Juanita C. Hume (nee Herren), 84, of Lorain, passed away Sunday, January 1, 2017 at Kingston of Vermilion after a brief illness.
Juanita was born January 25, 1932 in McPherson, Kansas had been a Lorain resident for the past 44 years moving from Washington.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Lorain where she served as an Alter Guild. She enjoyed volunteering for the Red Cross, the former St. Joes Hospital in Lorain, the Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, and the PTA. She loved to play golf and was a member of the Midway, Willow Creek, and Emerald Valley golf leagues, bowl, crochet, bake, do ceramics, read, and she traveled the USA in their motor home with her husband, Richard.
She is survived by her children, Kathie (Gary) Ackerman of Lorain, Vicki Roggenback of Amherst, Richard (Sheila) Hume, Jr. of Xenia; and Peggy (Rick) Gravett of Vancouver, WA; 13 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard L. Hume, Sr.; and parents, Kenneth and Eloise (nee Born) Herren; and brothers, Clarence and Dale Herren.
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 6, 2017 from 10 am until the time of service at 11 am at the Dombrowski-Riddle Funeral Home, 1939 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain, Ohio. Pastor James Peter will officiate.
